Summer 2020 Programs
2020 Summer Programs
This page outlines the programs that Ottawa TFC will be offering for the remainder of the 2020 summer season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have had to adjust many of the programs for various health and capacity factors. Although we are all eager to get back on the pitch, the health and safety of our members remains our top priority. Abiding by all provincial regulations, and applying the guidelines established by Ontario Soccer, the programs below will all be executed in compliance with the Ottawa TFC return to play protocol.

U4-U5 Grassroots Program
Program Description
At this stage, individual player development is paramount. Coaches and teachers stimulate a learning environment where the atmosphere is "Freedom and Fun." Most players in this program are exploring the game for the first time, and we hope the enjoy it, pick up a few basic skills, and start to form a relationship with the beautiful game.
The sessions themselves are run by our most talented senior youth players, who are beginning their coaching journey at the club. They are trained, guided and supervised by our academy staff coaches.
The sessions have the kids moving between skills exercises and small-sided games on a rotational basis. The format maximizes the concentration of the kids, gives them lots of important touches on the ball, and is also a lot of fun! Sessions last about 45 minutes, but the whole event can take up to an hour between arrival, and tidying up.

U6-U8 Grassroots Program
Program Description
At this stage, individual player development is paramount. Coaches and teachers stimulate a learning environment where the atmosphere is "Freedom and Fun." As coaches, our aim at these young ages is to produce what we've come to call "Soccer Ninjas": kids who can run, jump, sprint, roll, spin and move with grace and precision, while also being comfortable with a ball at their feet… Little ninjas, with a ball at their feet.
The sessions themselves are run by our most talented senior youth players, who are beginning their coaching journey at the club. They are trained, guided and supervised by our academy staff coaches.

U5-U8 Ninjas Program
Program Description
U5-U8 players have the option of benefitting from the Soccer Ninjas program, which includes technical development and games run by club coaches and our top technical assistants.
At Ottawa TFC we place an enormous emphasis on teaching and inspiring our youngest players. We are not a club that hopes to "recruit" talented players for our top teams at older ages, but rather strive to develop homegrown players into top athletes from within our very own ranks here at the club. In recent years this philosophy has seen us build one of the most competitive programs in the Province and Country.
The soccer ninjas program is the starting point of this development, and is open to all young players in Ottawa. Our aim is to produce exactly what the title says - Soccer Ninjas: Kids who can run, jump, sprint, roll, spin with grace and precision, while also being comfortable with a ball at their feet.
Game play is included in the program of course, and basic playing concepts are introduced, but the emphasis is on physical literacy (overall athleticism) individual soccer skills, and of course FUN! We want these players to learn to love the game first!

Program Description
The Professional Keeper program is position specific training for competitive goalkeepers who wish to train for the duration of the season. The sessions are designed to compliment the competitive/academy training schedule for as many GK's in the club as possible.
Whether you are a seasoned Goalkeeper at Ottawa TFC, or a young player working hard to learn the position, this clinic will help you to both learn and sharpen your basics, and to work further into some of the nuances and details of this specialized position.
Keepers in this program will be grouped by ability rather than purely by age. Groupings will be determined through an ongoing evaluation process by the coaching staff, and players may be shifted throughout the program based on development needs.
