Virtual Training Academy - by Ottawa TFC

The Virtual Training Academy programs put players through virtual training sessions focused on improving their ball mastery as well as their physical strength and coordination, and in some cases their fitness.  Players work through each workout live via zoom, with their team or training group under the guidance of our Academy coaches.  They interact and see each other training, see exercises demonstrated on video or by the leading coach, while coaches correct form, motivate, and lead players through the workout. 

The offered programs are listed below, with each program tailored for the age group with challenging and relevant exercises, session lengths, and instructors who have experience working with those ages.  All of the programs are fun, incredibly beneficial, and more than worth the time to do.

U5-U8 Ninjas VTA

Program Details

This monthly (4 week) program runs players through a twice weekly training program that develops their technical skills with the ball and their physical literacy skills (strength, flexibility, coordination, balance).  Each session is 25-30 minutes long, by which time players are red in the face, and have been challenged technically and physically.  Past participants have loved their experience, and have visibly improved in all of the focus areas.  

Soccer Age

All U5-U8 players (Born in: 2013 - 2016)

Locations

At your house!  All Sessions are run online via zoom. 

What you need to participate

  • 2 to 3 meters of space marked out by4 markers: cones, shoes, socks or whatever 4 markers you have.
  • A phone, tablet or laptop through which you will login into the virtual session
    • Your device must have a working camera so that the coach can see what you’re doing. 
    • You will need the zoom application installed on the device you are using before starting the session.
  • A ball
  • Water
  • A workout matt, if the floor you’re working on is not good for strength work like abs/plank, etc. 
  • Your setup should look something like the picture below, with your camera showing the coach exactly what the picture below shows:

U9-U12 Academy VTA

Program Details

This monthly (4 week) program runs players through a twice weekly training program with a focus on ball mastery and physical literacy skills (strength, flexibility, coordination, balance).  Each session is 30-45 minutes long depending on the physical intensity of the workout, and are always a lot of fun.

All U9-U12 players (Born in: 2009 - 2012)

U13-U18 Competitive VTA

Program Details

This monthly (4 week) program runs U13-U18 players through a twice weekly training program with a focus on both ball mastery as well as strength, coordination, and physical fitness.  Each session is 30-45 minutes long depending on the physical intensity of the workout, and includes a recommended fitness run for players to do on the days in between training.

All U13-U18 players (Born in: 2008 - 2003)

At your house!  All Sessions are run online via zoom.
